Avatar The Way of the Water has been a movie the public has been waiting for, for 13 years now. Having been a young kid when the original movie came out, I can definitely say I was very excited to see this one.
Starting off, we’re brought up to speed with what happens with the main character Jake Sully, and his wife and how their lives have changed since they forced the humans off Pandora and it is every bit as beautiful as I remember. James Cameron's cinematic techniques bring you into the world of Pandora so seamlessly I forgot I wasn’t watching a documentary for a moment. All the amazing bits and pieces that were put into the way Pandora looks literally bring you to a whole other planet. The teaching of the different cultures in each movie and how they create these gorgeous creatures is just amazing, I was left speechless with how much detail was put into EVERYTHING.
My only complaint for the entire movie was that the military aspect seemed to be a separate plot line from the rest of the film. Don’t get me wrong I’d love to see a movie of only Pandora culture, but the military at the heels of Jake Sully and his family seemed like an afterthought, despite the military being the main villain.
Overall the hints of Hawaiian and Samoan culture in Avatar The Way of the Water moved me. I’ve always felt a strong connection to the ocean and its creatures and this movie portrayed that love in such meaningful ways that I could’ve never imagined. This movie showcases so many emotions and beautiful love ties and connections to the planet that the Na’vi has with their home. I absolutely recommend this film and give all my praise to the team, actors, and entire crew.
