On February 21st 2023, after a long period of silence and the release of Phyrexia: All Will Be One, the popular card game Magic: The Gathering announced a new series with the well-known movie franchise and book series, Lord of the Rings. The new set is titled Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth, and is expected to drop June 2023, and then again in November 2023 just in time for the holiday season. The series is made up of Draft, Set, Collector, and Jumpstart Boosters, Commander Decks, a Starter Kit, a Bundle and Gift Bundle, Scene Boxes, and Secret Lair drops. All cards are considered legal to play in game, so suit up adventurers and get ready to team up with the fellowship at your next match or weekly game day with friends. Images of the box display designs and some cards have been released, and I will say, and while there are some mixed reviews on the art of the new decks the art is BEAUTIFUL, nothing short of amazing, in my opinion. These decks will not only bring new life to a beloved movie trilogy but will allow you to interact and strategize with your favorite characters and go to war against your competitors. Now the only question is, is it time yet?
